The 9th annual tour continues to celebrate the diverse styles of Bay-Friendly with over 20 private gardens will be featured in geographic clusters throughout Alameda County including seven in Alameda, as well as Berkeley, Oakland, Fremont-Newark. The Alameda cluster is entirely bikeable.
The tour showcases real local talent and gives the public a chance to see the work that inspired gardeners are doing in their backyards. Come see how gardeners are growing edibles year-round in favor of lawns and creating family friendly gardens designed by and for children.
Ploughshares Nursery will host a noontime talk on tour day with tips for growing perennial edibles and offering a special day-of discount on plants. This means you'll have the chance to not only see a tremendous palette of plants, but also the opportunity to bring some home. Tour goers will also be privy to local landscape designer Georgia Madden’s favored choices of Mediterranean plants with exotic collections being showcased in two host gardens, one which happens to be her personal garden.
Cost: $10/tour guide book for the tour which enables participants to attend the tours in Alameda, Napa, Santa Clara and Marin Counties. Registration required. The first 100 people to register will be entered into a drawing to win the award-winning, EBMUD book, Plants and Landscapes for Summer-Dry Climates.
