"Primal Visions": New Artwork by Lou Bermingham
“Primal Visions”, recent paintings and mixed media works by Lou Bermingham, opens on First Friday, August 1 and continues until September 6. A reception for Bermingham will take place Saturday, August 2, from 2 to 4 pm, when he will be available to meet gallery visitors.
Lou Bermingham was raised in the Sierra Foothills outside Sacramento. He moved to the Bay Area and attended San Jose State University, where he received his degree in Fine Arts. In 2011, Lou had a solo exhibition of his paintings at the Triton Museum in Santa Clara, for which the museum published a catalogue. Preston Metcalf, Chief Curator at the Triton Museum, says of Lou's work, “His art springs from that inner well of symbol and metaphor to which we all have access but from which only a few of us draw."
Says Lou, “I'm constantly reworking shapes, symbols, or totemic animals which I've explored over time… for me, art is a continuum stretching back to prehistory and is an investigation into light, life, and consciousness itself.”
