There’s no shortage of pizzerias on Alameda’s Park Street, but if anyone could be a worthy competitor in already-saturated pizza scene, it would be Mike Boyd, Dan Nichols, and Andie Bortner, who are the owners of Scolari’s Good Eats and now Marley G’s Pizzeria, which opened in November 2018. The most notable offering at Marley G’s, however, is the stromboli, particularly the “whitey” version, stuffed with goat cheese, spinach, olives, and red pepper flakes. Pizza comes in classic combos like sausage and peppers as well as unusual combos, like the Swedish-inspired banana chicken curry pie. The crust can be hit-or-miss, soggy and greasy at times and perfectly chewy-crisp at others. Parms are also available in plated or sandwich forms, in varieties ranging from meatball to eggplant to veal. Don’t miss the surprisingly good Jersey Girl salad with arugula, lemon, and ricotta salata, and for dessert, get the cannoli.
