The tastes of Guadalajara shine here at this tiny corner Mexican cafe that took over the spot that Kamdesh, the Afghan kebab house, occupied until upgrading a few doors down. Pork is not on the menu, which offers halal meats. With chicken, shrimp, fish, and steak on offer, it’s probably not an issue for most. The super shrimp tacos—order them crispy for the added crunch—are messy behemoths brimming with guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, and plump crustaceans, and are best eaten with a fork unless you have lots of napkins. Meanwhile, the flautas, sopes, chiles rellenos, and enchiladas don’t disappoint, and burritos look like a good value. The lush, velvety mole is the star of the lunch menu, so sop it up with the warm tortillas or use them to roll up a little fluffy rice, beans, and the slightly-sweet poultry for a good-to-the-last-bite meal.
