The Laurel district becomes a global melting pot for the Laurel StreetFair World Music Festival.

The all-day auditory music spectacular takes over six blocks with music, arts and crafts, kids activities, and more.

The global becomes local at the 20th annual Laurel StreetFair World Music Festival, which brings musicians and music from all over the world and all different cultures together in one place for a one-day auditory spectacular. The festival has long reflected the diversity of the city, amassing people from all walks of life and all backgrounds to experience the true melting pot of the Oakland’s musical heritage.

Featured performers include Quitapenas, Fito Reinoso, Orchestra Gold, The Onyx, Xiomara, Namorados da Lua, DJ Cecil, Prescott Circus, the Oakland Youth Poets, and Los Alegres Callejeros. You can get some proper stretches in before the day of musical excess, since the festival opens with a free outdoor yoga session led by Elika Aird with DJ heyLove at the Main Stage.

Food and drink will be available as well as arts and crafts at the festival’s six-block stretch of outdoor shopping booths. A kids’ carnival will help to distract the little ones while grown-ups can rock out to the best of world rhythms. Proceeds help to support Oakland’s Laurel District Association. Sat., Aug. 10, 11 a.m.-7 p.m., free, MacArthur Boulevard between 35th and Maybelle avenues, Oakland, StreetFair.laureldistrictassociation.org.
