Best Way to Get to Know Alameda

Alameda Walks, Alameda Recreation and Park Department

Want to learn about the time a plane crashed in Alameda? How about when a section of Webster Street was known as "Germantown"? Whether you're a longtime Alamedan or a newbie hoping to get to know your new home, Alameda Walks is a fantastic way to learn about how this town came to be, block-by-block, neighborhood-by-neighborhood. Sponsored by the Alameda Recreation and Park Department, these free historical walking tours run the first two Saturdays of every month from May to October. An hour long, each tour is led by local in-the-know notables, including Dennis Evanosky and Eric Kos of the Alameda Sun.
