Most Picturesque Dog Park
Alameda Point offers some of the most spectacular views in the Bay Area, and the Main Street Dog Park is no exception. Adjacent to the Main Street Ferry Landing, the park is surrounded by a walking trail and offers sublime views of the estuary, port, and sights sprawling from Oakland's flats to the hills. An off-leash affair, the park is largely maintained as a labor of love by volunteers and responsible pet owners who supply fresh drinking water for the pooches, and diligently keeping the yard clean of debris and droppings. It's a spot where dogs are there mostly to run rather than socialize. The yard welcomes all dogs great and small and is open during daylight hours.

Best Yoga on the Bay ... Literally
Ballena Bay has been growing in popularity as Alameda's favorite marina, with picturesque views plus plenty of sunshine and parking. Already an ideal outdoor exercise spot, Mike Yang's increasingly popular paddleboard business, Mike's Paddle, moved to a spot right on the dock and generating buzz last summer around Stand Up Paddle Yoga and Pilates. Fun for outdoorsy types, SUP Yoga offers a challenging core workout for a variety of fitness levels and something fun and different for yoginis who want to expand their practice beyond the walls of a studio. The instructors come to SUP as certified yoga instructors who take a specialized teaching program with Mike's Paddle. Offering weekly 90-minute classes, half-day intro workshops, and special immersion classes throughout the year, Mike's SUP Yoga is a uniquely Alameda way to unwind and have fun in the sun.
