Boot and Shoe Service Has a New Brunch Menu

Options include egg pizzas and waffles with cherries and kombucha creme fraiche. A brunch-specific cocktail menu is new too.

Oakland's Boot and Shoe Service restaurant has a brand-new brunch menu.

Available Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the sweet and savory menu includes first-course options such as buckwheat waffles (with cherries and kombucha creme fraiche); little gem lettuce (with sorrel and sunflower-seed furikake); and burrata (with English peas, leeks, and mint); second courses such as an egg-and-avocado sandwich (with maitake and fiscalini cheddar); ricotta agnolotti (with dandelion, green garlic, and pistachios); and omelets (with creme fraiche and smoked-salmon bottarga). Also available are small sides such as red-wheat toast with strawberry jam; salmon rillettes with seeded levain toast; and sesame coffee cake with creme Anglaise and roasted strawberries. 

Pizzas on the menu are topped with such options as eggs, stracciatella, tomatoes, Calabrian peppers, Gouda cheese, fennel sausage, anchovies, and wild arugula. 

To pair with these treats, Boot and Shoe Service's bar manager Alex Phillips has designed a new brunch-exclusive cocktail menu — which includes the Casino Soul (bourbon, cold brew, cream, Varnelli Moka, amaro) and Disco Romance (aperitivo blend, sparkling wine, cloudberry, orange juice) as well as updated drink staples such as mimosas made with freshly pressed orange juice, elderflower kombucha, and Prosecco.
