Oakland's Boot and Shoe Service restaurant has opened its doors for afternoon service to become an all-day establishment.
The change at this popular establishment on Grand Avenue, a half-block from the Grand Lake Theatre, was inaugurated on July 6.
Co-owners Jennifer Cremer and Richard Clark announced the news by saying that they were excited to expand their hours and fill the need for an elevated counter service experience in the neighborhood.
The restaurant's existing café service menu has been expanded to include coffee and tea, sweet and savory porridges, new house-made pastries, small bites (such as marinated olives; polenta porridge toast with butter and strawberry jam; and salmon rillettes with cucumber, caraway, and fermented leek on seeded levain), and larger dishes (such as an egg-and-avocado sandwich with maitake and fiscalini cheddar; and a crispy rice salad with sorrel, mint, and soft-cooked egg).
Wine options, a select number of batched cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available for lunch guests.
Weekend guests can enjoy new "grandma-style" square pizza slices. Whole, house-made bread loaves are available Thursday through Sunday.
Counter service operations will run during the weekends concurrently with sit-down brunch service. The restaurant is closed on Mondays.
