Comal Hosts an Educational Mezcal Meal

Mezcalistas is a media/events/consulting company dedicated "to spreading the gospel of mezcal." Coss is also the co-founder of the national annual mezcal-fest Mexico in a Bottle, now in its fifth year.
Her appearance will be the latest in Comal's Abajo Dinner Series — an ongoing array of beer, wine, and spirits producer-focused collaborations showcasing beverages made with each guest's representative spirits and paired with dishes prepared by Comal's executive chef, Matt Gandin.
Featured spirits served on July 16 will include Wahaka's Madrecuishe; Banhez's Joven; Banhez's Cuishe; Derrumbes' San Luis Potosí; and Mezcal's Vago Espadin. Gandin's menu for the evening, which starts at 6:30 p.m., includes wild shrimp ceviche (with guacamole, chips, and three salsas); sweet corn-poblano chile soup (with crema and tortilla strips); cochinita pibil tacos (with black beans, pickled onions, and queso fresco); and Oaxacan chocolate budin (with whipped cream and chile arbol).
