The over-the-top, irreverent choral group performs Home for the Holidays! for World’s AIDS day with hilarious twists on holiday standards.
Get in the holiday spirit with the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus at Freight & Salvage for a special World AIDS Day performance called Home for the Holidays!
Expect over-the-top production and modern, updated twists on old favorites such as “Silver Bells,” “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” and “Silent Night.” Humor and flair are trademarks of the SFGMC — think “A Chorus Line” meets “The Nutcracker,” Pentatonix, and Mariah Carey. Backed by a brass quintet, the show will shift from classical to swing to big band, with 250 men’s voices as the centerpiece. And don’t forget that the chorus has been a San Francisco fixture for nearly 40 years — it was the first organization of its kind in 1978. It has historically been credited with starting the LGBT choral movement and standing for human rights, community activism, empowerment, and inclusivity. Don’t miss out — in their own words, it’ll be a brassy, sassy night.
