Donato & Co. Now Serves Lunch and Brunch

Highlights include panini served on fresh house-made Italian-style breads.

Donato & Co., which opened last month in Berkeley's Elmwood district, has newly introduced both lunch and brunch service.

Weekend brunches began two weeks ago at the rustic-style Italian restaurant and are served Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Lunch is now served daily from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A "limited menu" is served daily between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Lunch highlights include four panini sandwiches: crispy chicken, porchetta, grilled vegetables, and prosciutto. 

Chef Gianluca Guglielmi is making fresh bread for these sandwiches: ciabatta, filoncino, focaccia, and tigella — an Italian street food resembling an English muffin.

Brunch highlights include frittelle pancakes, bundt-like ciambellone bread (which is a specialty of the chef's), and assorted pastries — as well as Italian-style egg dishes such as a vegetable frittata and a crispy potato-and-cheese frico cake with poached eggs.
