This week marks the debut of a new East Bay brew.
San Leandro-based Drake's Brewing Co. has just released this year's version of its holiday-themed, barrel-aged, 15.1 percent ABV barleywine: Santa's Brass.
The fruity newbie will be featured today and tonight during Side Bar Friday at Drake's Barrel House. From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., bottles will be available for purchase and in stock while supplies last.
Last year's version of Santa's Brass earned a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival aong with "Best in Show" honors at the California State Fair, and second place in its category this September at the 2019 California Craft Brewers Cup.
Crafted with California Ale Yeast, Willamette hops, Alameda-made Admiral Maltings Maiden Voyage malt and Admiral Maltings Kilnsmith III malt —and aged in whiskey and Port barrels — this year's adorably bottled edition of the smooth, chocolatey-dark drink comes in 750ml bottles, priced at $24.95 each.
Drake's Dealership and BARN will also be offering bottles for sale beginning next week through the end of the month.
