East Bay Oktoberfest Options Abound
Sip suds and say "Prost!" from the Diamond District to Fremont and back.
Oktoberfest might be just another excuse to clink beer-glasses and marvel at how the golden autumn sunlight illuminates their contents, but can there really even be too many excuses to do this?
Here are some of our East Bay Oktoberfest options:
The eleventh annual Oaktoberfest takes place in Oakland's Dimond District on Saturday, Sept. 29 and Sunday, Sept. 30. Dozens of breweries will pour their suds at this annual event, which features German food, a brewer's brunch, a root-biergarten for kids, and live music on four different stages.
The Downtown Hayward Oktoberfest on Sept. 29 features over fifty beer vendors and a brew competition along with live music and food. Proceeds will support local charities.
The Fremont Oktoberfest, also on Sept. 29, is presented by local microbrewery DasBrew, which specializes in German-style beers.
Clayton, Walnut Creek, and San Ramon are also holding Oktoberfests.
Oakland's Lake Chalet Seafood Bar & Grill will host its annual Oktoberfest at the Lake Chalet celebration on Saturday, Oct. 6. Ticket-holders will receive limited-edition souvenir steins filled with house-brewed ale or a special Oktoberfest beer.
Complementing those beers will be special German-style menu items such as soft pretzels and bratwurst. Adding to the fun will be a costume contest and servers dressed up for the occasion.
