Support for a Later School Start

I really hope this [“Sleeping in at AUSD,” May] gets passed! Mornings are very difficult for teens. If we want them to work to their potential, I think we should do everything we can to support them. As a mother of teens, and a therapist, I fully support this change.

About That Park

Lincoln Park [“Greetings From Alameda!”, May] is a wonderful 7.8-acre area that was opened in 1909. It was designated an Alameda city landmark in 1981. It has a rich history, including the opening for the park, when over 500 children traveled here from San Francisco and paraded from Park Street to the park where hundreds gathered to celebrate the opening.

Palmento a Dopo Fans

There’s a lot of talk about farm-to-table and organic, but the reality is that almost all restaurants cut corners and deliver customers something that’s not nearly as fresh or authentic as they suppose. But Dopo is the real deal. I would put this little gem up against any restaurant in the world, and I think Dopo wins every time. Jon Smulewitz is the anti-celebrity chef, which might be the most refreshing thing of all.

Always an incredible experience! Worth flying across the country for.

Corrections and Clarifications

“Oracle Arena’s New Best Friend” erroneously stated that the Golden State Warriors had made “The City” its primary logo. It’s one of many.

Tracey Snelling’s name was misspelled in June’s “Observations on the Human Condition.”

We failed to credit Ramona d’Viola with her photo of designer Carol’s Roman Shades curtains in June’s article “Wily Window Treatments.”

While factually correct that the Corporation for Public Broadcasting funded Talent Quest, the radio show mentioned in the May feature “Podcast Nation,” the Public Radio Exchange designed, managed, and led the initiative. CPB awarded PRX a grant for Talent Quest. NPR eventually co-distributed the radio show Snap Judgment after a few years.
