Well, maybe it didn’t quite happen like that. Coyote Hills Regional Parks hosts the Stone Age Olympics, a day of fun and educational family activities where kids can discover what it would have been like to live long ago in the prehistoric era before modern technology like wheels or fire. How did our caveman ancestors survive the brutal prehistoric world with nothing more than their wits and a few simple tools?

Kids get a feel for life as a real-life Flintstone with activities like casting prehistoric dart throwers, building a fire by rubbing sticks together, throwing rabbit sticks, and flinging the bolas. Expert flintknappers will also be on hand to demonstrate how patience and precision can transform ordinary rocks into the functional tools that gave our underdog caveman ancestors the advantage over the dreaded dire wolf and saber-toothed tiger.
