The Trappist in downtown Oakland will celebrate its tenth anniversary next Saturday, Dec. 9, with a party featuring ten of what owner Aaron Porter calls "ten of our favorite brewer friends."

For the occasion, each of these brewers (see list below) has created a special beer "which we will be releasing at the event on the 9th," Porter said.

These beers will be available on draft, with several of them also available in bottles and cans. Neighboring restaurant Tamarindo Antojeria Mexicana will provide the food.

"We opened The Trappist on December 7, 2007 with an enthusiasm for artisan craft beer and the traditions of Belgium and Europe," Porter said.

"We set out to bring a little bit of that tradition and passion to Oakland through The Trappist. We are very proud to have been established now for ten years and thankful and appreciative to the beer community that has grown here in Oakland and also in the greater Bay Area."

The ten brewers that have created unique beers for the bash include De La Senne (based in Belgium); Sante Adairius (Capitola); Evil Twin (New York); Jackie O's (Ohio); Alvarado (Monterey); Barebottle (San Francisco); Fieldwork (Berkeley); Cellarmaker (San Francisco); Mikkeller (California/Denmark); and Allagash (Maine).
