Yard House Opens in Concord
Some say it sports the world's largest selection of craft beer.

The Yard House restaurant group opened its newest location this week in Concord, offering what insiders call the world's largest selection of draft beer.
Located in the Veranda shopping center, adorned with original art by Oakland-born abstract artist Jerome Gastaldi, the sprawling 16,000-square-foot space has created about 200 new jobs for the Concord community and sports a huge bar outfitted with 130 separate taps.
From these taps issue local suds such as Epidemic Affliction Amber, Del Cielo Smooth Ride, and Calicraft Oaktown.
They augment a menu that includes such beer-pairing perfections as poke nachos, Nashville hot chicken, Parmesan-crusted pork loin, and ginger-crusted salmon. Gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options are also available.
Founded in Southern California in 1996, the Yard House group operates programs to help team members vastly expand their beer knowledge and business skills. Rajesh Gharmalkar, general manager of the new Concord location, has been with the restaurant group for eleven years.
To celebrate the Concord opening, the restaurant is donating to local nonprofits such as the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, and to Yard House's own Harvest program which "harvests" unused and unsold edibles from the restaurant — not leftovers but fresh food — in order to help feed the hungry.
The Concord location is Yard House's 79th.
