ICE Creates a Chill

Rumors about the actions of federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents put a chill into parents and teachers at several East Bay schools yesterday, the Oakland Tribune reported. Indeed, the actions of the agency with the frightening acronym, ICE, even caused Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums to rally outside East Oakland elementary school in protest. According to the Tribune, rumors included fears that Berkeley middle school students were being carted off in vans (false) and that agents were conducting surveillance near schools (true). ICE officials claimed that rumors were overblown  but admitted conducting surveillance at residences near schools. [Photo: Oakland Tribune]

You can't keep the good ones down. Alameda native Earl J. Rivard was hit by a car when he was four months old and then, later in life, was hit two more times. The blind and partially-paralyzed Rivard doesn't let any of this get him down, releasing Troubadour Blue.
