I saw your story on Tom Tolbert [“Express Yourself,” November 2006]. It was great. I wanted to let you know we have another radio person here in Alameda. Rick Powell is a DJ on a Bay Area rock station. Rick used to be the owner of Rick’s Grill here in Alameda, but went on to become a radio jock.

Straw Hat Laddies

    Read your article on the Red Hat Ladies [Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” November 2006], and it sounds like they have a great time together. Just wondering if there are any men out there who would like to initiate a Straw Hat Laddies unorganized club from Alameda for fun and get-togethers. We could be the gender alternate to the ladies’ organization. I would hope there are plenty of retired, married, widowed or single gentlemen in the Alameda area that would like some time off from home repairs, cleaning basements, cutting lawns, restoration duties, etc. We could share our hobbies and perhaps learn some new ones, go on outings, promote an organization, and just be as visible as our counterparts. Any takers?
