LEFT OUT

I am moved to write this letter upon noting the exclusion of the Gold Coast Grill from Alameda Magazine's May/June 2006 Dining Guide; this is the second consecutive issue in which this omission has occurred. I find it completely unacceptable to be overlooked in this manner.

The Dining Guide entries, not the individual advertisements placed by restaurants, are the best reference point for readers looking for a place to enjoy a meal on the Island. The Gold Coast has been a mainstay of the Alameda dining scene since 1992, offering one of the few high-end dining experiences in town and is a recipient of several "Best of" awards.

I appreciate that editorial choices must be made, such as accommodating a new restaurant or updating information on an old favorite. However, I find it interesting that the May/June 2006 issue of a publication that portrays itself as Alameda-centric contains approximately 60 entries for out-of-town eateries, yet ours--one of the longest-established, locally-owned restaurants in the city--is ignored.
