AWED BY "ALAMEDIA"
I just saw the latest Alameda Magazine [September/October 2005] and turned directly to the "Alamedia" page. What a wonderful photo of the Victorian with the sunflower! Kudos to the photographer.

CHANGE NOT GOOD
They say change is good, but I want to see Gina Jaber's column "Just Between Us" back on the back page where it belongs. I enjoy reading her musings and usually flip to it first when the magazine arrives. Then, as time allows, I go back and read the rest of the magazine. Yes, "Alamedia" is a clever and good idea, but I think it would do well on the second-to-last page.

GREAT ENDING
I am subscriber No. 22 and have always thought this was a great magazine, but I was totally disappointed to see Gina Jaber's mind-opening column blown into the magazine, downsized and put next to an advertisement. For anyone to enjoy a movie, it must have a great story line, and, more so, a great ending. Your magazine has always had great articles, but you moved the great ending. Gina's stories have always complemented the magazine and left us all yearning for the next. I myself read her articles first and sometimes a second for total absorption. Her columns belong where they have been, maybe with an updated photo instead of the high school picture (kidding, Gina; you're gorgeous). But to do what you did, shame.

ALAMEDA AS HOME
I was fortunate to have spent from mid-December 2004 until mid-January 2005 in Perth, Western Australia. While the Bay Area was being deluged with rain, I was soaking up the sun in one of the prettiest cities on earth.
I was one of the few Americans in WA since Perth is quite remote (closer to Singapore than Sydney) and situated on the far side of Australia from the [United] States. Accordingly, my American accent attracted attention, as did my magazine. Everyone was very curious about Alameda. Thanks for producing such a wonderful souvenir book of the place I call home.
