East Bay Regional Park District

The East Bay Regional Park District has been a champion of environmental stewardship, leading the way since 1934. Created to preserve and protect East Bay open spaces, EPRPD takes seriously its mission to keep safe the East Bay scenic corridors and wildlife, enabling residents to reconnect with nature.
“Being green is something that comes real natural to us,” says general manager Pat O’Brien. “We were greenies before people were using the word green.”
EPRPD works hard to restore environmentally sensitive lands, transforming distressed areas such as former landfills into pristine parks. EBRPD is becoming greener by adding hybrid vehicles, building a more fuel-efficient fleet of service trucks, emphasizing recycling at parks and at administrative headquarters where solar panels have been installed and teaching youngsters about environmental education through progressive camp programs.
