Campaign donors and government officials packed into Scott’s Seafood Restaurant at Jack London Square Jan. 8, eagerly awaiting the arrival of Ron Dellums, the 48th mayor of Oakland. The black-tie event was organized to thank supporters and friends of the Dellums campaign as well as sponsors of the new mayor’s inaugural week activities. An Oakland native who spent nearly three decades representing the East Bay in Congress, Dellums begins his mayoral tenure with a provocative motto: “Together we can do great things.” Photography by Lani Allen.
