Concerts, museums, and talks recall the civil rights leader’s works.
A number of events are planned in the East Bay to celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.
The annual musical tribute to Martin Luther King Jr., In the Name of Love, features performances by local and national singers, including Tony Lindsay, Raz Kennedy, Tammi Brown, Clif Payne, and Tiffany Austin. At the event, an Oakland resident who has made a big difference in the community will be presented with the Oakland Citizen Humanitarian Award. Proceeds benefit the Living Jazz Children’s Project, a free music education program that Living Jazz provides to Oakland Title 1 public elementary schools.
