Jayna Gyro Mediterranean Signs Lease in Emeryville Public Market
The new fast-casual spot will serve house-made spanakopita, doner, and other Greek- and Turkish-inspired fare.
Emeryville's Public Market has just announced that a lease has been signed in the space for Jayna Gyro Mediterranean, a fast-casual spot set to serve house-made Greek- and Turkish-inspired fare such as doner kebabs, tzatziki, aioli, dolmades, spanakopita, and hummus.
Owner Yusuf Topal also owns Tarla Mediterranean Grill in the Napa Valley and will be assisted in this venture by Tarla's chef Jason Naaman, as reported by the EvilleEye.
A native of Turkey and a longtime restaurant-industry veteran, Topal worked on specialty restaurants aboard cruise ships for many years before opening Tarla in 2012 with his wife Breanna Salvatore Topal, as reported by the Napa Valley Register.
Also according to the EvilleEye, Jayna will open in the Public Market's former We Sushi stall, probably in May.
