Word on the Street: Food Fight
Kerry Plain: While we have several fast food restaurants in Alameda already, I know many people who regularly head to the In-N-Out on Hegenberger. So I guess I’m “in,” hoping this will add revenue in sales tax and more jobs in Alameda. Besides, it gives somewhere for those leaving Mariner Square Athletic Club to grab a bite.
Sally Damsen: I think it’s great that a popular restaurant like this is coming to Alameda. I am concerned about increased traffic through the Webster Tube as well as what a late-night closing (1 a.m.) might bring to a relatively quiet area. These are important issues that will need to be addressed.
Ken Miller: I am “out.” In my opinion, there is already enough access to fast food establishments on the Island. Knowing how much drive-through traffic that In-N-Out tends to attract, consistently, to their establishments, it will only mean increased traffic congestion wherever it’s located.
John Bickley: I will be going to Target from time to time, so having an In-N-Out Burger at that location would be an added plus. I would rather go there than to Hegenburger in Oakland. Let’s keep more business in Alameda. And their double-double with onions and a side of fries is pretty good, too.
Jim Lewis: I’m “in.” As a committed but not especially discriminating carnivore, I’m pro-choice on burger variety. Can we get a Steak ’n Shake next?
