Bob Dylan has two gigs at the Greek, and Mavis Staples shares the show.

The times, they are a-changin’. And Bob Dylan, fresh from winning a Grammy for The Basement Tapes Complete: The Bootleg Volume 11 for Best Historical Album, continues to experience them and change with them.

Dylan, also nominated for a Grammy in Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category for Shadows, is amid a U.S. tour through June and July with his band and gospel singer and Civil Rights activist Mavis Staples to promote his new record.

They will be in Berkeley at the Greek Theatre this month. Dylan’s new album, Fallen Angels, was to be released May 20 and features 12 classic American tunes from greats like Johnny Mercer, Harold Arlen, Sammy Cahn, and Carolyn Leigh. Previously this year, Dylan released EP Melancholy Mood to promote Angels, which may well be viewed as an additional volume to his 2015 Shadows in the Night record of American songs. For every pair of tickets purchased for concert shows, the buyer will receive a code to redeem for an Angels CD, according to Dylan’s website.

Rhythm and blues diva Staples also has new record called Livin’ on a High Note, with production by M. Ward and songwriting credits from Nick Cave, Neko Case, and Justin Vernon for what’s being termed a “joyous and happy album” that’s “more studio than church.”
