The Middle Harbor at Fort Green is a fresh taste of spring in the glass.

Fort Green keeps it fresh with the Middle Harbor.

Get ready for a cocktail that smells like a field of lime trees, looks like a pale green daydream, and tastes like a bowl of sunshine coated in happiness. Old Oakland’s Fort Green serves the Middle Harbor, a daiquiri-inspired concoction that should double as a fragrance called Delicious. While the cocktail comes off like a fancy affair, it was created with a focus on simplicity—a daiquiri with the addition of pear brandy. Now this original is a favorite of the new venue, which also offers lunch and dinner.

Middle Harbor is a shout-out to a the stellar Oakland park, which is near a mix of cranes, shorebirds, and sailboats, and it’s something of a crown jewel of Oakland—which is why it gets to be the name of this starboard cocktail. When you sip this beverage, you can’t help but be mesmerized by the scent. The agricole has fresh-cut grass and olive aromas, the pear smells like a bushel of ripe pears, and absinthe enhances the flavors and fills in the baseline.

Fort Green is a casual sports bar with multiple flat screens, making it a perfect spot to watch Steph Curry and Klay Thompson swish three-pointers and rack up new record-breaking numbers. And when you get to cheer on the Dubs while you sip on prime cocktails, it feels like living in Oakland. See you soon with a Middle Harbor in one hand and the NBA Finals in the other.
