Test Your Limits at the Alameda County Fair

Fair food, thrill rides, and concerts with LeAnn Rimes and Smash Mouth are highlights this year.

The Alameda County Fair offers thrills, fun, concerts, and a new Sky Ride.

Every year, the Alameda County Fair gives adventurous attendees another chance to test the limits of ludicrous fair food like corn dog pizza and deep-fried Twinkies. It also prompts the masses to test the limits of their own endurance, spinning on the Tilt-A-Whirl and the Gravitron after consuming said corn dog pizza and deep-fried Twinkies. This year, the fair arrives with a bigger roster of special celebrity guests than ever, including LeAnn Rimes, Smash Mouth, Sir Mix-A-Lot, and Blue Oyster Cult among the other big name musical acts who will rock the stage during the fair’s Big O Tire concert series.

Thrill-seekers with hearty constitutions will want to check out Turbo, a new amusement ride that features spinning, flipping action 120 feet in the air. The more leisurely inclined might want to try the new cross-grounds Sky Ride where fair-goers can take a relaxing tour with a bird’s-eye view of the entire fair. And, of course, there’s also live horse racing, monster truck rallies, livestock auctions, midway games, pig races, dance contests, and all the other fun that’s expected from the county fair. Friday, June 15-Sunday, July 8, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. (closed June 18-19, 25-26, July 2-3), adults $12-$15, seniors $8-$10, kids $8-$10, kids under 6 free, Alameda County Fairgrounds, 4501 Pleasanton Ave., Pleasanton, AlamedaCountyFair.com.
