Alameda Magazine’s Best of Alameda was created to give readers throughout Alameda and the East Bay a chance to share their personal “family favorite” picks across animal services and everyday local categories. Over the years, the program has continued to evolve—guided by reader feedback and a shared love for the businesses and organizations that make this community special.
Voting for Best of Alameda Animal Services takes place in two rounds. The first round opens in March and allows open write-in nominations, giving readers the opportunity to spotlight their favorite animal services. Nominations remain open until mid-April.
Once nominations close, the second round begins. During this final voting period in April and May, readers select their favorites from among the top-nominated animal services. Write-ins are closed, and the focus shifts to choosing the very best of the best.
Final winners are announced in October—and every vote helps celebrate the people and places that care for Alameda’s animals year-round.
