Trap Kitchen is the lovechild of two former gang members from Compton, Malachi “Chef Spank” Jenkins, a Crip, and Roberto “Sous Chef News” Smith, a Blood. Their soul and seafood recipes, such as their legendary pineapple bowls with surf ’n’ turf shrimp and steak, have propelled them from underground cooks to celebrities in their own right.

Trap Kitchen is beloved by everyone from Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West to Kobe Bryant, and Jenkins and Smith have made TV and radio appearances on shows like Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party and Vice.

Changing their lives by taking to the streets with food, they’ve catered throughout Los Angeles, as well as in Las Vegas, Atlanta, and New York City, and even opened a stationary location in Portland. On tour in cities across the United States, Trap Kitchen is making a trip to the Bay Area with a pop-up at Complex.
