The nerdcore dorktastic band is on the road to promote two new albums.

Oh-wee-oh, it’s Weezer, the band that’s made an artform out of being just square enough. Long known as an essential of nerdcore, Weezer first blasted onto the scene in 1993, propelled into immediate stardom by the infectious earworm “Buddy Holly” — and an accompanying music videos of the lovably dorktastic band rocking out on the set of TV’s  Happy Days.

Equally toe-tapping songs like “Undone” and “Say It Ain’t So” cemented Weezer as a breakfast-cereally sugar pop icon, but the band wasn’t content to stagnate. Subsequent albums became more experimental as the band traded in its smooth, clean-cut sound for more abrasive grit. Even so, the band has always retained a mischievous sense of fun, as evidenced by its recent cover of Toto’s extremely meme-able hit “Africa” with guest artist Weird Al Yankovic. The band’s been extremely busy lately. Its fifth album — the Teal Album — was released earlier this year, and it sixth – The Black Album — was released just this month. Naturally, with two new collections out, the band will be returning to the road for an all-new North American tour. Get ready to nerd out!

Wednesday, April 10, 7 p.m., tickets start at $29.50, Oracle Arena, 7000 Coliseum Way, Oakland, OracleArena.com.
